Inspired by the Cormantee hunters of West Africa called the Maroons, our African jerk marinade transports you to each region of the continent with a thoughtfully curated array of ingredients and spices.
𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: We scoured all four corners of the continent for the most vibrant and exciting ingredients – the ones that tease the senses and tantalize the taste buds; to capture a distinct flavor profile unique to our brand. Each jar contains two dozen ingredients (with the exception of pimento and thyme).
𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗔𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆: Much like our ancestors, we make our jerk pastes in small batches to capture the essence and complexity of true African-style jerk – sweet, sour, spicy, savory, and bitter.
𝗗𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗗𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: We start with a base of zingy preserved lemon, tart tamarind, and extra strong Dijon mustard. Highly fragrant spices are artfully added for intense aroma and flavor. Paprika brings smoky complexity and dates add sweetness. We then introduce pungent aromatics such as ginger and garlic. Habanero peppers add fruity floral notes and fiery heat. Finally, a few other secret ingredients round out and balance flavors.
𝗗𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗹𝗲: In additional to being used to flavor meat, poultry, seafood, vegetables, tofu and tempeh, our jerk paste can also be used as a curry and soup base. Add to stews, stir fries, ground meat, or any dish that is in dire need of instant complexity and intensity. Then grill, barbecue, bake or roast. The sky’s the limit.
