The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi’s party, Amani National Congress (ANC), have officially merged to form a unified political entity.
Details of the merger were disclosed by UDA Chairperson Cecil Mbarire during a press briefing at State House, Nairobi, on Friday, January 17.
“UDA and the Amani National Congress have today merged as one,” Mbarire announced.
Mbarire noted that while the unified party will retain the UDA name for now, a name change will occur in the future.
As part of the merger, UDA has restructured its leadership to integrate ANC members.
Lamu Governor Issa Timamy has been appointed as deputy party leader, a role previously held by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki.
Additionally, ANC Chairman Kevin Lunani will now serve as UDA’s vice-chairman, while Emuhaya MP Omboko Milemba takes up the position of deputy secretary-general.
Mbarire stated that further changes, including modifications to the party’s logo, are anticipated as part of the unification process.
