A major anti-narcotics operation in Mwamogeza Village, Kisii County, has resulted in the seizure of 710kgs of suspected cannabis sativa.

The raid, conducted by a multi-agency team led by the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA), took place on Wednesday afternoon in Kiamuasi Location, Daraja Mbili sub-location.

Authorities discovered seven 50kg sacks, four 90kg sacks, and two large carrier bags filled with the illicit substance concealed in rental houses.

However, the prime suspect, Geoffrey Nyabira, alias Jeff, managed to evade arrest.

Law enforcement agencies have now intensified efforts to track down the notorious drug dealer, who remains a high-priority target.

“We are not relenting in our pursuit of drug barons, their merchants, and distribution networks,” NACADA Chief Executive Officer Dr. Anthony Omerikwa stated.

“This seizure is a testament to our resolve. We will hunt down every individual profiting from the destruction of our youth and communities.”

During the operation, three suspects were apprehended and are set to be arraigned in court as investigations continue.

Authorities are also working to determine the estimated street value of the confiscated drugs.
