The chief of air staff, Hassan Abubakar, has commended the courage and commitment of troops fighting insurgency in the North-East.

In a statement on Sunday, the Nigerian Air Force spokesman, Ehimen Ejodame, said Abubakar spoke during a morale-boosting visit to the air component of Operation HADIN KAI in Maiduguri, Borno.

Ejodame quoted Abubakar as saying the troops’ sacrifices are etched in the nation’s history, noting that Nigerians sleep safer today because of their vigilance.

The air chief said the troops’ bravery in tough conditions would not go unnoticed, adding that his visit was to show appreciation for their efforts in securing communities.

He reaffirmed NAF’s resolve to retain airpower advantage, adding that the force would keep investing in advanced technology to support frontline operations.

“Accompanied by senior officers from Headquarters NAF, Air Marshal Abubakar’s visit comes at a critical moment, reinforcing the importance of public support for military operations and spotlighting the human element at the heart of national defence,” the statement reads.

“The Nigerian Air Force remains steadfast in its mission, guided by leadership, strengthened by unity, and driven by the selfless service of its personnel.”

Ejodame added that commanders briefed the air chief on recent gains and highlighted the impact of precision strikes and close air support in ongoing operations.
